Abilene Attractions - Abilene Zoo

Abilene is a great little town to visit . Still small enough to remain friendly but large enough to have some good attractions. If you live in or if you are visiting Abilene and are looking for something to do I have just the thing. You should visit the Abilene Zoo. It is a great place to visit and spend a few hours or spend the entire afternoon.

The Abilene Zoo has an extensive collection of both plants and of animals. The animal exhibits are well landscaped with plants that are native to the state of Texas. There are over 500 different animals housed in these exhibits and they are divided in to 200 different species. Some of the animals housed at the zoo include exotic African Elephants, Giraffes, Jaguars, Bison and Zebras as well as a collection of different primates. While it is not the biggest zoo in the state of Texas it is definitely worth a visit so next time you are in the area you should take your kidsand family and go check it out. The Abilene zoo is open daily from nine to five and the gates close at 4:30. Ticket prices are quite reasonable at $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and just $2 for children. It is well worth the admission price.

If you would like to visit the Abilene Zoo you can find it inside of Nelson Park off of highway 36. Its address is 2070 Zoo Lane Abilene, TX 79602. For more information or to learn about current events call the zoo's information line at 325-673-WILD. Have fun.
