Holiday Attractions in Boston

Boston, famously is the capital city of Massachusetts it is the largest city in New England. For being the capital city of such a diverse and beautiful area, there is an amazing choice of attractions, vista's, activities and entertainment. As well as being an extremely pretty and friendly place to visit, this fabulous city is also home to several major colleges and universities of reputation. Boston's colleges and universities have a major impact on the city and the region's economy in general. Not only are they major employers, but they also attract high-tech industries to the city and surrounding region, especially computer hardware, biotechnology and software companies.

For most people the arrival at Boston will generally be via Logan Airport. This is a bustling airport which serves both domestic and international flights. Located just 3 miles from the downtown area of Boston, which makes transportation to hotel or city destinations that much easier. Taxi’s, shuttle buses or the subway can get you cheaply to the downtown Boston area. A taxi from the airport to your downtown hotel will cost you around £25 ( depending on the exchange rate), which includes all fees and tolls to the city. Your trip should take you no more than 20 minutes ( as long as you miss rush hour), although beware of possible congestion from the Callahan and Sumner tunnels during busy periods. For an easier and faster method of getting around, use the subway, which is just a ten minute ride to the city centre on the fantastic MBTA Blue line.

The youthful and vibrant feel of the city is one of the main attractions for visitors to Boston and perhaps the best place to indulge in this atmosphere is at Boston Common. This great old public park is a place where you can walk, sit, run, skate or whatever travel mode you opt for to get you about. Boston Common is a superb place to relax and take in the fabulous view of the city and explore some of the attractive gardens which surround you. A real rival to the Famous central park of NYC. For sports fans no visit would be complete without taking in a game with the Boston Red Sox, a Major League Baseball team and huge attraction in Boston area.

There are a number of neighbourhoods in Boston which are worthy of a mention. One of the most prestigious areas to explore is the Beacon Hill and Downtown area. Just north from Boston Common, this neighbourhood is great for walking and taking in some fabulous sights and wonderful buildings including the King’s Chapel and the Old State House. Walking through the city is the only way to truly get to grips with all the stunning scenery and multiple attractions and that historic feel.

All cities have either a Little Italy or a China Town (or sometimes both), for the Boston version of Little Italy, you should find your way to Charlestown and the North End. Here you can walk the old streets and stop in at a place of interest or two including the Old Town Church and the Copp’s Hill Burying Ground where you can get a spectacular view of the city.

For business travellers or those who simply cant do without their laptops even on holidays, Mayor Menino has announced his Wireless Task Force, introducing hotspots downtown and in Roxbury where business people, tourists, and residents can access the Internet anytime.

Another picturesque region of the city is the Back Bay area. Again, this part of the city has many older Victorian houses and buildings to see. This area is also the perfect place for a bite to eat and visiting a bar for a couple of drinks afterwards. Find yourself a place to indulge in some fine Boston food and drink, while watching the city go by.

heck out the amazing Boston Shines, for 2007 on Friday, April 27th and Saturday, April 28th, in neighborhoods all over the city, as we all help to make Boston Shine. A spring clean up is the perfect way to say good-bye to winter and welcome in the spring. Boston Shines is an opportunity to work side by side with neighbors, corporate volunteers, universities, neighborhood businesses, public organizations and private agencies.

With the wealth of entertainment and culture in Boston, your visit will be brimming with fun and excitement which is suitable for all tastes and budgets.
