Wine Tours In and Around Buenos Aires, ArgentinaFor those who have a love of wine, visiting the many wineries in and around Buenos Aires is a definite must do on their itinerary. There are plenty of wine tours all around Buenos Aires, but depending on your choice, some wine tours focus on more than just one area, allowing you to make the best out of your experience. Depending on how long you have for the wine tours, I suggest you not start in Buenos Aires itself but start out at the famous town right next to it, Mendoza. This is the largest wine making region in all of Argentina and it'll be sure to leave a lasting impression on whoever visits. Well known for its extensive wineries, if there's only one region you get to go to, choose this one. For those who only have a day to spend, try the Uco Valley Wine Tour. Some people say that this is the one to try and there are those that even compare it to the Napa Valley of California 25 years ago. It produces excellent high altitude wines from vineyards up to 1400m feet high. For those who have 3 to 4 days to spend wine tasting, I recommend still sticking to one region but exploring different wineries. You'll be surprised that some vineyards take up to a week or more just to explore. Try going on Ampora Wine Tours, who take you to some of the best areas in Mendoza such as Luján de Cuyo. Lujan de Cuyo is one of the most developed wine regions. Once there you'll visit their selection of the best wineries like Bodega Achaval Ferrer and Bodega Sottano. Most wine tours are in small public groups but options are available for those who want that private extra special tour and one on one meetings with owners. Also in Mendoza, try visiting La Rural and their wine museum or if you're uncomfortable organizing your own wine tour, try going on one with Magda Wine Tours, who are said to offer an authentic wine tasting experience around Mendoza. If you can explore more than one region, head for San Juan which is a little further than Mendoza, but well worth if you have ample time on your hands. Experience the flavors of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Chardonnay. If you prefer to stick closer to Buenos Aires, visit Rio Negro, which is said to produce some really fine desert wines. If you do stop by, don't forget to visit Vinedos Agrestis and Humberto Canale which offer a unique perspective on wine in this area.
