The Story of Le Centre Pompidou

It is a must to visit le Centre Pompidou at Place George Pompidou 75004 Paris, named after the French President of 1969 Georges jean Raymond Pompidou, if you are in Paris for a city trip. Le Centre Pompidou is a museum with contemporary art known all over the world. The building itself isn't an old baroque, neuvo art or classic building as Paris has innumerable of them. Le Centre Pompidou is very modern, it consist out of metal and windows and a gigantic escalator, that reminds you of a caterpillar, and it brings you to the top of the roof, here you are standing on the 6th floor, an amazing view over Paris.

The Centre Pompidou is a huge building, it is open every day from 11am until 9pm, you can purchase tickets until 8pm, and some evenings or exhibitions are open until 11pm, but you have to taken into account that you might end up in a queu unless you visit the centre after 5pm in the evening. Or if you are organized enough just buy your tickets online.

The Museum and Exhibition hall also contains a library, you can have a look at the collection and use the study and reading room for free but you can't lend any of the works to take home.

The centre has one big conference and concert room and 2 cinemas, The museum and atelier Brancusi, a famous master of modern sculpture living in Paris and who's atelier is copied and reconstructed.

There are 3 bookshops and Printemps design boutique, here you can buy gifts or interesting lecture about the Centre Pompidou and world famous artist, the café Mezzanine and the Stravinsky Place is already a good stop to have a coffee and look at your purchases.

A visit at le Centre Pompidou can not pass by unnoticed without visiting Le George restaurant on the 6th floor, this is a must for everyone who likes to have breakfast, lunch or dinner in a style of interior design that alternates between the work of Dominique Jacob and Brendan McFarlane.
