St. Thomas Beaches & Activities

St. Thomas is an island that's a part of the US Virgin Islands. It is a US territory, so US citizens can come and go as they please as long as they haven't visited any other countries in between. The capital is Charlotte Amalie, which is known chiefly for its wide variety of shopping. Part of the reason for so much shopping being available is that it is the most visited cruise port in the Caribbean. That's a lot of people going in and out every day, which means a lot of people shopping. Whether it's jewelry, liquor, electronics, or local crafts, this is the place to find it.

But St. Thomas isn't just about the shopping. There's also great nightlife and restaurants. Whatever your tastes, you'll be able to find something you like at one of the islands many eateries, from grabbing a quick afternoon bite to an elegant, evening meal.

What about the more natural pleasures? Is there not something for those interested in the outdoors? Of course! Beaches abound, of course, being an island surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Any sort of water activities you can imagine will be found here, from snorkeling and scuba diving, yachting and sailing, surfing, windboarding, bodyboarding, swimming, sun-tanning, fishing, and more. Even something as simple as strolling the beaches or watching others do the same can be immensely enjoyable. St. Thomas offers some of the most beautiful natural beach settings anywhere.

There are all kinds of other activities to enjoy, like the Coral World Marine Park and Observatory, where you can learn all about the fish, corals, and other sea life that live in the Caribbean. Or maybe Fort Christian is more your style â€" the oldest structure on the island. There's also the scenic lookout of Mountain Top, where you can savor views of the ocean, beaches, and surrounding islands.

If you're looking for somewhere warm and inviting to visit, especially if visiting beaches and the ocean is appealing to you, make sure to put St. Thomas on your itinerary.
