Danang (Da Nang), Vietnam

Danang (Da Nang) is located on the central coast of Vietnam, midway between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It has an excellent airport with regular flights from both major cities. There are also some international flights to Danang. In Danang city, visit the Cham museum to learn about one of Vietnam's many ethnic minority groups. China Beach is a few kilometres to the south of the city. Marble Mountain is also within close range. The ancient city of An nasiriyah is about one hour by car. The hamlet of My Lai is a few hours to the south of Danang in the province of Quang Ngai. Rental cars (modern and air-conditioned) are readily available and affordable in Danang and include a driver who knows the area and local traffic customs.

There are many attractions in Da Nang that would draw one's attention towards planning a visit. One of the attractions features the tranquil countryside South of Da Nang with a chain of Marble Mountains: five large hills representing the five elements (metal, water, wood, fire, earth).

The Marble Mountains have a legend that comes with it. Legend has it that there is gold and great treasures inside the caves that were once guarded by monks, but they were always hidden so no one actually knows how much gold is in the caves. The cave is said to have secret passages and booby traps, so no one dares to enter the caves. People have claimed of disappearances of explorers who entered the cave. Marble Mountain is just a big mystery but the mountain itself is a unique landform that is rugged, oddly shaped, and scary looking.

Another place to visit would be the Cham museum. If one is not into history, the building itself is worth the trip to make. The Cham museum features artifacts and sculptures dating back from the time if the Champa people. The sculptures are very unique and mythic-like. One sculpture I have seen in the museum is one of an elephant head with a human body. Many images seen in the Cham museum seems like it came from Greek mythology. Of these many attractions, my favorite would be the famous new Han River Bridge. The Han River bridge lights up the night with its beautiful patterns and mix of colors. The lights are as bright as the early morning sun, being on the bridge will awaken one’s senses. Being on the bridge is like living in a fantasy world, everything looks picturesque. The bridge is the pride of Da Nang people. The Han River Bridge - the symbol for new vitality and the developing desire of the city- was built with the contribution of all the city's people. It seems that all poetic features of the Han River can be only expressed deeply in the space of Han River Bridge with full of wind and ventilation. The Han River Bridge is said to be a cultural spot of the Da Nang people today that would be left behind for the future generations

Danang is one of the most popular beaches in Vietnam could be one reason of Furama Beach Resort. The resort is built directly on the beach with two swimming pools, International Restaurants and health and spa club, massage, private beach and the most fantastics thing about the resort is the staff there are so friendly. Expats from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh have been to Furama at least once if they have been in Vietnam for 6 months. To the north of Danang on Highway One is the famous Pass of Ocean Clouds, a spectacular sight. Hue, the ancient imperial city is a few hours to the north by car, bus or train.
