Cheap Travel Places in Taipei

Taipei is well known for being a holiday shopper’s paradise. Taiwan is home to the tallest building in the world, Taipei 101. The lower floors of Taipei 101 house a huge shopping mall. Taipei 101 gets its name because it has 101 different stores. There is also another shopping mall in Taipei called "Sogo". Both "Sogo" and Taipei 101 are great places to shop with a lot of variety. However, if you are on a budget holiday, Xi Men Ding is the place you must go to. There are a lot of fashionable and trendy stuff for young people at Xi Meng Ding. The famous oyster mee sua is sold here as well. When we have finished shopping at Xi Meng Ding, we can go to the night markets when the sun goes down.

There are many night markets where we can get cheap food and cheap things. The most famous night market is the Shihlin Night Market. This is a place where travel agents will recommend and include in their vacation package to people who holiday in Taipei. Many Taipei residents also head to Keelung on the weekends. Keelung is located at the north of Taipei City. It is a village kind of setting and they have their famous night market which sells a lot of cheap and good food.

After Shihlin Night Market, energetic tourist can visit the twenty four hours Cheng Pin Book Store. This is a very big book store with many varieties of books from all over the world. Book lovers who cannot sleep can curl up in the corner with a book the whole night. Taipei also has a lot of karaoke lounge and night spots worth exploring.

There is a town called Jiu Fen at the outskirts of Taipei. It is the backdrop for the award winning movie starred by Tony Leung and Maggi Cheung. It is very inaccessible with only one bus to the town a day. This town is on top of a mountain and used to be a mining town. Now it is converted to a place with a lot of two storey tea houses. After we are tired from the your of the town, we can sit down at one of the tea house to enjoy a cup of tea. The town is located on the mountains, so drinking tea in the tea house can give us the experience of being among the clouds.
