Nara has got the credit of being the first imperial capital in Japan. It is one of the most important historical and cultural centers in the country. If you happen to be on the outskirts of Nara, there are many fabulous temples amongst which one is Horyu-ji which is UNESCO listed world heritage. It is oldest surviving Buddhist temple in Japan.
