Destination Spotlight - Delhi

India’s capital is a bustling metropolis that is as colourful as it is interesting. Delhi is a combination of ancient culture and modern wonders. There is so much to take in here it’s hard to know where to start. Thankfully for you, you don’t have to wonder. Here is a guide of the top five places to visit.

The Golden Temple
The Golden temple can be found in Amristar in Punjab. It is the most sacred shrine of Sikhism and is visited by Sikhs from all over the world. It is also an impressive structure and is very popular with tourists.

Khajuraho
Khajuraho is famous for its temples and between 950 AD to 1050AD the area was home to over 85 places of worship. Although that number has now dropped considerably there are still 22 striking temples to visit. Inside you’ll find sculpture of Gods and Goddesses. These sculptures are widely believed to be some of the most beautiful in the world

India Gate
India Gate was formerly known as the All India War Memorial. It is a monument to commemorate the Indian soldiers who died in World War I. It was built by Edward Lutyens in 1921 and is located on the Raipath in New Delhi.

Festivals
There are several festivals in Delhi, many of them religious. The Diwali festival – the festival of light – is one if the most popular. The Qutub festival is a culture festival where dancers and musicians from all over India perform.

Red fort
The Red Fort, also known as the Delhi Fort is a World Heritage Site. It was once the palace for Emperor Shah Jahan. It is a stunning building and is visited by millions of tourists every year.
