African Safari Holidays

Africa for decades has had an image of an area plagued with disease, poverty, hunger, racial tensions and conflicts. However, there are many humanitarians who are trying to change this, and there has been an attempt to explore its geographical resources, cultural diversity and rich history. Many people are working very hard to dwell on these strengths and have worked towards making Africa an exciting tourist destination. African safaris are generally the highlights of one's tour to this magnificent land.

A Safari literally means a trip or an expedition and Africa is globally popular for them. The continent's beauty lies in its picturesque landscapes and virgin greenery. It boasts of an extensive variety of wildlife. A number of African countries can be visited to enjoy this experience. Some of these include Botswana, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Namibia.

Each country has its own special sites that must be visited while on safari. They include the Selinda Reserve and the Kalahari Desert in Botswana that are said to be perfect for a safari. The Kruger National Park in South Africa, the renowned wildlife sanctuaries such as the Serengeti National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Mahale Mountains National Park and the Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania are some other popular sites.

Kenya has as many as 59 wildlife parks, the most well known being the Masai Mara Game Reserve. It is famous for its wide variety of giraffes, elephants and rhinos. The Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe are a magnificent site and considered to be a tourist hub. Mozambique is also well known for its lovely beaches. Namibia is a destination particularly visited because of its topography. The Namib Desert, The Central Plateau and the Fish River Canyon in the southern part of the country are some of the most impressive locations.
